Batman Begins

Formal review

Superheroes are mostly for children or so we used to believe until Christopher Nolan brought back Batman starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and many others. It’s easy to fall in love with these movies because unlike every other superhero Bruce Wayne is a regular young kid who wants to play with his friends in the garden until an unfortunate incident leads him to fall in a cave filled with bats 🦇. This causes Bruce Wayne to grow a deep fear for bats and he’s fear is compounded more when he’s in the art theatre with his parents.

The theater show with its brilliant visualizations leads Bruce Wayne into being terrified and that horrific incident with the bats comes back creeping into his mind. Instead of seeing theatre, he sees those bats and when Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s father who is a doctor and an owner of Wayne Enterprises, a multi-billion company that effectively runs the city of Gotham where they reside, realizes that Bruce is not coping he decides that they must go home.

On the way home, Bruce Wayne’s parents are both shot and killed in a robbery by a crack addict in front of his eyes. Bruce Wayne blames himself and his only motive is revenge and when he can’t get it, he leaves the city after his childhood friend Rachel Dawes now works for the DA office. Bruce Wayne dedicates his life to justice and he figures the most criminals are in jail and he decided to get himself locked up in one so that he can have the luxury of beating criminals up. This happens for a while until he is founding taken to the mountains by his mentor Ra’s Al Ghul, the leader of the league of shadows, an organization that prides itself in dealing with criminals, especially politicians and judges. Ra’s trains Bruce Wayne and when it’s time to graduate by killing a criminal.

Bruce Wayne blatantly refuses to kill the criminal and sets the facilities on fire killing many members of the league of shadows and unknowingly saves the person who was the cause of his father’s death, Ra’s Al Ghul.

As Bruce Wayne is settled in his home city equipped with the combative skills he decides to help his city. In order to do that, he becomes his greatest fear, Batman. He decides that it’s time his enemies also feared what he fears most. He modestly cleans up the town until Ra’s Al Ghul comes to town for a showdown. Bruce Wayne ends up having to defeat the person who was ultimately responsible for the death of his parents and save his city at the same time.
